New Years News!!!!

Heya Friends. . .two quick bits of news as I wish you all a happy new year!!!!
First of all, I have FINALLY finished my newest album, "The Open Road". The theme of these ten songs are all related to the challenges and issues of transitioning from young adulthood into middle age. I am very proud of it and hope that it has something to offer you. You can hear it by going to my personal website at www.thomasjwilson.com. As always, feedback and constructive criticism is highly appreciated. Special thanks to J R Mounts for his phenomenal guitar work on this one.
Secondly, for those of you who don't already know. . .Kimberly has accepted a position with Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire. We believe that we have found a house just across the border into Vermont. We will be leaving Georgia at the end of January. I will forward specific contact info to you all as time comes closer.
Thanks to one and all. . .much thanks for the love and support that you continue to give me.

The Open Road

That Phrase has a couple of meanings, doesn't it?

The most obvious meaning is that it is the title of the new album, which is now "completed". I put quotation marks around that, quite frankly, because I am not happy with it. I think that the tracking was all great, but there is something in the mix that I am just not happy with. I have not been able to put my finger on it, but I am not completely satisfied. I don't think that I have surpassed my last album production wise, and want to spend some more time on it. . . .time which I am not going to have for a couple of months.

So, I am not releasing it. . . .yet.

Thanks so much to those of you who have sent me supportive comments, and your ongoing patience. I want to make sure, that before I share this current work with anyone, that I am happy with what I have created. I expect that I should be able to focus on fixing the parts that I am dissatisfied with, and releasing something that I feel good about, sometime in early to mid spring 2008. As I said, there is just too much going on with life and the family. . .

Which brings me to the OTHER meaning of "The Open Road". . .

Kimberly has accepted a position with the Pediatric ICU with Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire. We will be out on "The Open Road" on a new adventure to move our home and family to New England. We are all very excited, though somewhat anxious regarding the move--Moving is never fun.

We expect to be gone from Austell at the very end of January, and settled into our new Home in the Upper Valley region of New Hampshire by the Middle of February.

Thanks to all friends and family for your ongoing love and support. I appreciate each and every one!

Happy Birthday Sam!!!

Yes, it is that time of year again, where my (not so) little boy turns another year older.

Sam's 5th birthday is today. . .it is hard to believe how fast the time flies! We have basically had a relatively spread out, week long celebration, rather than an all at once blow out. We started Celebrating on Monday. . .with a nice dinner and Cake and ice cream. . .we chose Monday, because our friends, the Blackwells, were visiting from out of town, and that way they could celebrate with us!

Grace, Sadie, Reese, Olivia, and Sofia were as excited about the balloons as Sam was:

Sam, in keeping with his own peculiar quirky nature decided that he wanted a "Rush" birthday--Complete with Geddy Lee cake

In keeping with the Rush theme, we went to see the first show of the Rush tour on Wednesday--It was exciting because even tho Sam saw them in concert in 2004, this is the first time he will have seen them in recent memory. We decided NOT to drive in, but had Kimberly take us inside the perimeter to the MARTA station (about 15 min from us). MARTA runs a shuttle from the station to the Amphitheater, so we didn't need to worry about anything, and it was a fun outing for Sam! Here he is on the train:

Here he is at the Amphitheater, getting ready to find our seats!

This is Sam, when he FINALLY understood that "Going to see rush" didn't mean that we were going to meet them and talk to them. . .I have been telling him for weeks that we were not going to actually MEET Geddy, Alex, and Neil. he said he was ready to go home and that he didn't want to stay. I said, "let's just wait until they start playing, and then if you don't want to stay, you just let me know. "

Of Course, He was OK after the music started:

he needed a potty break about 5 songs in. . .that was when we went to get a shirt (thanks Grammy, for the birthday money!!!):

they finally played "Far Cry" (his newest Favorite)

and i snapped this of us before it got dark!

All in all it was a GREAT evening. . .he was EXHAUSTED by the time we got back to the station, and fell asleep on the way home from the station. . .but all in all it has been a GREAT birthday week for Sam!

Out from under the rock. . .

Ok. . without excuses or whining. ..I am back to announce that I am back out from under my rock, and back into blogging. It has been a while and there has been a myriad of things going on. . .Mostly family and friend visits, a few minor illnesses, and a birthday.

Thanks for bearing with me as I have been getting my crap together!

Well. . .I reckon it's about that time. . .

. . .to either write a new album or have another baby.

Kimberly says I had better get to writing then.

I have four songs in progress.
